Possibility nominerad till en Oscar!
It's the end of December, which means we're knee-deep in the annual awards season. The nominations for the Golden Globe Awards came out earlier this week, and the Screen Actors' Guild Awards nominees were announced this morning. Though the Academy Award nominations won't be announced until February 2, the Oscars have sent out the list of the 63 original songs from films that will be eligible for a nomination in the Best Original Song category. There are a handful of soundtrack tunes from blockbusters (like Linkin Park's "New Divide," from "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"), plenty of foreign fare and a ton of Miley Cyrus tracks.
But there's one song that really stands out: Lykke Li's "Possibility," which comes from the soundtrack to "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." The moody piece is one of the standouts from the excellent soundtrack (which also features Death Cab for Cutie, Thom Yorke and Muse) and could be the best shot that "New Moon" has at Oscar gold.
When Lykke Li stopped by MTV News a few months ago to discuss the "New Moon" soundtrack, she told rock editor James Montgomery that the song's melody had been living in her head for a while, but it took a screening of the movie to make it complete. "I had this hook in my mind," she said. "I was watching the movie, and I was like, 'That's the hook!'"
As soon as she decided what the song would be, she finished writing it and recorded it the next day. But what was it about "New Moon" that gave Lykke Li the songwriting spark? "It was very much a discovery inside myself," she said. "I had this song growing inside me that had to get out, and I really connected with [Edward and Bella's] tortured love story."

New Moon Soundtrack slår till Platinum!
"THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON-ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK" rises this week on the Billboard 200, ranking #8 and selling more than 93,000 units in its sixth week on sale. The soundtrack, which debuted in October, has also received RIAA platinum certification for sales exceeding 1 million units. "THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON" soundtrack, which peaked at #1 in its first full week in stores and online, made history as the first time ever a soundtrack and its sequel have both reached the #1 spot on the chart. In addition, the soundtrack has remained in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 since its release.
The musical companion to the highly anticipated second installment of Summit Entertainment's film franchise features exclusive tracks from some of modern music's most gifted and admired artists, including Thom Yorke, Muse, The Killers, Anya Marina, and Death Cab for Cutie, who contributed the album's first single, "Meet Me On the Equinox." The track is currently #8 at Modern Rock radio.
In other news, "TWILIGHT-ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK" took home the award for Favorite Soundtrack at this year's American Music Awards. "TWILIGHT" has currently sold more than 2.3 million copies in the U.S. alone and over 3.5 million copies worldwide. The soundtrack has remained on the Billboard 200 for 55 consecutive weeks.
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON topped the box office this past weekend, pulling in $142.8 million in North America and marking the third biggest opening weekend ever. The film also ranks as the best single opening day ever in North America as well as the best grossing for midnight shows ever at $26.3 million.

I Nya Zeeland så har man med en annan låt på NM Soundtrack. Nämligen Thunderclap av Eskimo Joe.
Vad tycker ni om den? Jag tycker att den passar till New Moon, men jag tycker att det är konstigt att den är med på det Nya Zeeländska soundtracket och inte på det Amerikanska eller Svenska eller ngt annant? Hm..

Update om NM Soundtrack!
Tyvärr, eller ska man säga tyvärr, har det ju beslutats i USA att soundtracket för New Moon släpps redan på fredag. Detta kan som tur är innebära att även releasedatumet i Sverige blir framskjutet till på fredag.
I vår senaste tävling får 10 vinnare möjligheten att förhandslyssna på soundtracket. Detta skulle ha varit på fredag, då soundtracket nu kommer att släppas.
Warner Music har kontaktat oss och skriver att förhandslyssningen givetvis fortfarande blir av men grejen blir ju kanske inte densamma. Tävlingen har gått miste om lite grann av dess exklusivistet. Som tröst för detta kommer de som vinner även att även gå hem med en filmposter efter förhandslyssningen!
Vinnarna kommer att avslöjas och kontaktas ikväll.
